Title: Sept 10, 2017 - Miramichi Dragway
Post by: psdunn on September 10, 2017, 08:57:13 PM
A small group of five cars left Moncton headed for Miramichi and the drag races.  We travelled north on Route 126 in order to avoid the construction and traffic on the main Route 11 and it was a quick and pleasant drive with one pit stop along the way.  It was a beautiful warm late summer day, perfect for enjoying the races and we saw some great runs, including a number of new track records.  It was a treat for me to meet Lynn Cormier, the daughter of member Roger (Lindou) Cormier's cousin who is the driver of the Castrol sponsored car.  Unfortunately, in her final run she jumped the light and so finished second in her class.  Congratulations!!  I always marvel at the people who race snowmobiles  at the drags, reaching speeds well over 150 mph in the quarter mile and even more surprising is the fact that the majority of these snowmobile drivers are women!  These ladies must have nerves of steel.  After several hours at the track, we headed for home along Route 11 and, other than a few construction delays, it was a very nice drive.
