ATLANTIC CANADA CORVETTE CLUBS
MEETING – SATURDAY, October 22, 2022
LOUNSBURY CHEVROLET BOARDROOM, MONCTON, NB

Executives in Attendance:
GMCC – Bob Cormier;  Roger Bourgeois
PEICC –Kingsley Lewis;
NSCC – Ivan Hines
CSNB – Sylvia & Don Blanchard

Absent:
RVV
NFLCC
LCCC

Bob Cormier began the meeting at 10 a.m. by welcoming everyone in attendance.  There were no questions or concerns before the individual presentations began.

1)   CORVETTES OF SOUTHERN NB
Sylvia expressed that it is good to see everyone in person.  Their club had an eventful season and were able to attend some of the shows and events after a few years of lockdown.   There are currently 45 members, with 7 new members added.
Their new major sponsor, Coast Tire, McAllister Drive, has been extremely supportive of the promotion of the club and activities.  Thank you to the Moncton club for the invitation to participate in their Spring cruise day to and through Saint John.  Thank you to the RVV for the invite to join their club on a cruise day to the USA.
The club continues with the monthly cruise nights.  As well, club members were able to attend various activities sponsored by other Corvette clubs in our area.   Certain members will be responsible for coordinating out-of-town events for the next season.

Fundraising saw $900 raised, with $450 going to a winner and the other half going to organizations which will be decided at the November meeting.
For 2023, the Poker Run will be held on September 29/30th.  Friday will be a Moon Glow show in the evening, under the lights.  Coast Tire will be giving away a $1,000 prize for tires, along with other prizes.  Annual Poker Run will be held on the Saturday, so it will be a 2 day event.  More details will be sent out when coordinated.
Election of officers will be held in November.

2)   PEI CORVETTE CLUB
Kingsley advises that their annual show has been cancelled for the past 3 years. It has been a difficult time for their club.  Kingsley is noticing more vettes on the Island, so is hopeful that the club will grow in 2023.   It is anticipated that 2023 Vette Fest will be a go.

3)   CORVETTE CLUB OF NS
Ivan began by telling us their club currently has 143 members with 166 Corvettes and 5 Lifetime members.   The club's annual general meeting was held on October 16th.  Executives as follows:
President – Ivan Hines
VP – Sandy Stoddard
Treasurer – David Kelly
Secretary – Kim Gilby
Director at large – Dean Langille
Past President – Amanda Hines
Event Coordinator – David Publicover
Charity Coordinator – Fern Shaw
Newsletter Editor – Darlene Langille

The club's charity for 2023 will be Feed N.S.  (2022 was Ronald McDonald House).
The sale of the 2023 calendars was a success;  there are 20 left.   The 2024 Bowling Green Caravan is now fully booked – there are a few "wait list" spots left.
Club breakfasts are back on, held on the 3rd Sunday at Sunny Side Restaurant, Bedford, NS.
The Sponsorship program has been increased to include more sponsors.
The 2022 Maritime Meet was the largest club show ever held.  Many attendees from the US.
The 2023 Maritime Meet will be held on July 14-15.  Friday has been added as an event day.  There will be a cruise with 2 stops: Wedgeport Lobster, Boatskey Distillery.  A parade on Friday evening, then Meet & Greet, Saturday show, then charter to Wedgeport Wharf for a boat cruise.   Details will be sent out.
An observation of note is that many members have upgraded their Vettes in the last few years.

4)   GREATER MONCTON CORVETTE CLUB
Bob reviewed GMCC's past events.  We have 139 members.  It was a very active summer for the club.  Some of the major events attended were Radical Speed Sport in the Spring, Atlantic Nationals mid summer, Maritime Meet in Yarmouth, Bar Harbor, Kingston Invasion, Saint John's Poke Run, Corvettes at Carlisle. Members stepped up this year to organize day trips for the club: lots of day drives around the Province, including Kings' Landing, Covered Bridge Potato Chip factory, Campbellton/Grand Falls);  a visit to the Waldow Dairy Farm in October, a last minute tour of Grand Lake, to mention only a couple.    Some planned events had to be cancelled due to Fiona, including a trip to PEI and Pictou, NS.
Fundraising was a great success this year;  our main charities were the Autism Resource Centre for Southeastern NB and the IWK Child Life.  We will include our annual turkey donations to the Sue Stultz Turkey drive in December and to the school lunch programs in January.

As of today, the 2023 calendar of events is blank, but our web page (www.greatermonctoncorvetteclub.net) will be updated as the events are planned.  We will continue to support the other Corvette Clubs in the Atlantic Region.
Meeting was adjourned at noon with Bob thanking those that were able to attend the meeting.  Next meeting will be scheduled for April 2023.

Hi
Is it possible to have the pictures show up without downloading them?
That is how it used to work, like a photobook.
But now we have to download each picture to view it.
Very strange.

Event Calendar / Lady's Drivers Run
Last post by Ricko - October 15, 2022, 03:48:47 PM
We hope everyone is having a good, long weekend.  More importantly, we hope the vettes will still be on the road come October 29th.

I would like to organize a run for Saturday, October 29th.  The run would invite the women to drive.  I realize not everyone is comfortable with that, but it will be a leisurely drive.  I'm hoping the lady drivers will make the event more Halloween-scary.

We would set out from Irving, Dieppe Blvd., at 1 o'clock.   Our first stop will be at Maison Doiron House (a beautiful historic property in St-Anselme).   We will then head to Memramcook via Dover Road and Pre d'en Haut.  We aren't able to stop at Belliveau Orchards because it is their busiest weekend of the year.   We will save that stop for a trip next summer.   Our next stop will be a cemetery in Memramcook to find the oldest headstone (maybe a prize?).  If they are still open for the season, we will make our final stop at Monument LeFevre museum, right next door to the cemetery.  Costumes are optional and welcomed.

All those in favor, please respond to:  corvettefun@rogers.com  by October 21st.
