Following is the schedule and contacts for the overnight trip planned for the long August weekend:

Saturday, Aug 2 -
Depart McDonald's Magnetic Hill at 8:00 am and travel to St Andrews to drive across the ocean floor to Minister's Island, former home of Corneluis Van Horne, President of Canadian Pacific.  Although the roadway across the gap is rocky, we are assured that it is Corvette passable and has previously been used by the CSNB club.  We will be able to park at the main house and explore the buildings and the area.  We are still working on lunch but we may have a picnic lunch there with each person bringing their own food.  The cost to visit the island is $10 per car.  The website for additional information is http://www.ministersisland.net.  We will leave the island at 1:30 pm and either spend more some in the town of St Andrews or take a leisurely drive to St George and our motel for the night - this can be decided at the time by the group.

Our motel for the night is the Granite Town Hotel (http://granitetownhotel.com) in St George and a group of rooms has been set aside for the Greater Moncton Corvette Club at $119 for 2 double beds or $109 for 1 queen bed with a 10% discount for seniors or CAA.  The phone number to call is 1-800-667-2010 and be sure to identify yourself as a member of the group.  There are more rooms available with the queen bed than with 2 doubles, so if you want 2 beds you should call quickly.  We will have a group dinner that night at a local restaurant - it looks "rustic" but I'm assured that the food is good.  After dinner, it's party time!

Sunday, Aug 3 -
Depart the motel at 8:15 am and travel to Black's Harbour to catch the 9:30 am ferry to Grand Manan.  Ferry reservations can be booked online at https://register.coastaltransport.ca/auth/login and the fee will be $54.35 for the car and 2 passengers.  You will first need to set up an account at the website and you can then book your reservation.  When booking, be sure to book a round trip leaving at 9:30 am and returning at 15:30 pm.  We will join the Loyalist Club from Saint John at the ferry and spend our time on the island with them - they have a club member who lives there and he will be our guide for our visit.  Upon our return to the mainland, the group can decide whether to stop along the way home for a meal or to "high-tail" it right on through.
