On a cool, cloudy Saturday morning, cars from New Brunswick and Nova Scotia gathered at our departure point in Aulac, NB to head for our crossing of Confederation Bridge and meeting location at Gateway Village in Borden, PEI.  For those of us who used to travel on the ferry, while it may have been a bit more romantic, it sure wasn't nearly as efficient or predictable.  By the time we departed Gateway Village, our caravan was approximately 40 cars long and our course set us to Charlottetown for our first stop where we were able to gather all the cars together and get back on the road as a single group, thanks to an RCMP traffic block.  We drove east through the beautiful rolling farmland of the Island to the coast where we turned north and drove along the coast to our lunch destination in the town of Souris.  During our lunch stopover, the ferry to Les Isles-de-la-Madeleine, Quebec departed - this is the main transportation route to and from the remote islands in the Gulf of St Lawrence.  Following lunch, we travelled north and then west to our next stop, the Prince Edward Island Distillery for a tour of their operation and tasting of their award winning products.  After a very interesting tour, we travelled back to Charlottetown to check into our motels and get ready for the BBQ dinner and Chinese Auction set up by the host PEI Club.  At the dinner there were lots of laughs and many great prizes awarded - one table in particular seemed very lucky (with one exception).
Sunday broke as a drizzly, cool morning and it looked like the show would take place under overcast skies but as we arrived and began to clean the cars for the show, the sky cleared and the sun broke out and it ended up being a beautiful day.  When the ballots were tallied, we had two winners from GMCC - Gerry Geldart and Sharon Smith's 1963 split window coupe took the best in C2 class and Bob Steeves and Carolyn Robichaud's 50th Anniversary C5 took the prize for best in their class.  Bob was also the winner of the club draw for the gas card!
Great weekend - as always, a first rate job by the PEI club - thank you.
