Eight cars set out from Moncton on a clear, cool Fall morning and travelled along the TCH to Sussex where we stopped for a brief rest break and were joined by another car.  From Sussex we drove along Route 121 which follows the Kennebecasis River through several small settlements to the town of Hampton where we stopped for a guided tour of the Kings County Museum.  The museum is comprised of 2 buildings, one of which is an old jailhouse.  The display in the main building shows the impact World War I had on the town and surrounding area using informative displays and relics from that time.  The jailhouse has 2 cells in their original condition which clearly convey the message that criminals did HARD time back in the 1800's.  The museum gave us a very interesting glimpse of life in past times in this part of our province.
After our tour, we drove a short distance to a nice little restaurant in Hampton where we enjoyed lunch before turning around and retracing our route back to Sussex and on to Moncton following secondary roads the entire way so as to enjoy the drive and the Fall colours.
