Fifteen cars left Moncton on this cloudy day, headed east on Hwy 15, travelling past Shediac and Cap Pelé to the traffic circle near Port Elgin where we switched to Hwy 16 towards PEI.  We took the last exit before Confederation Bridge at Cape Jourimain and spent some time at the welcome centre there.  The park was not yet fully opened for the season but the observation tower was available to climb for an excellent view of the bridge.  Upon departing Cape Jourimain, we followed the coast road a short distance to the old ferry wharf which was used to access PEI before the construction of the bridge.  The wharf is now used for fishing boats and the parking lot and terminal building are now a trailer park during the summer season.  We followed the very picturesque coast road from there to Port Elgin for a brief rest stop before heading to Aulac for lunch before turning back to Moncton.
