On a cool, cloudy late summer day, fifteen cars left Moncton travelling north on Route 126 headed for the Miramichi River and the village of Doaktown in Central New Brunswick, home of the Atlantic Salmon Museum.  Three more cars joined the caravan along the way so our group was 18 cars in total when we arrived at our destination.  Club member Doug MacDonald, a patron of the Museum as well as a recently inducted member of their Hall of Fame, arranged our welcome with beverages and snacks laid out for us and staff conducted tours of the facility.  It was an interesting and informative opportunity to learn about this species of fish that plays such an important role in this region of the province.  The Museum is situated in a beautiful location on the shore of the river overlooking its own salmon pool.  Following our visit at the Museum, we drove to a local restaurant and overwhelmed them with our numbers so it took a while for some folks to receive their food but there were no complaints when it arrived.

After lunch the majority of the group headed south on Route 123 towards Chipman and home to Moncton.

Thanks to Doug MacDonald for arranging and leading this event.
