Twenty Corvettes left Moncton on a beautiful day headed east on the TCH to Aulac on the border with Nova Scotia where Fort Beausejour is located.  We met an additional 3 cars along the way so we were 23 strong at the fort, a pretty nice sight lining the driveway.  We spent some time exploring the grounds, the museum and the ruins of the fort, very interesting history as our country is about to celebrate it's 150th anniversary.  From the fort, we drove the short distance to the Irving Big Stop where we enjoyed our lunch.  After lunch, we drove just across the border into Nova Scotia and viewed the location where Fort Lawrence once stood; unfortunately, nothing remains.  Our next stop was at the Campbell's Carriage Factory in Sackville, NB where we were given a guided tour of the facility with its very extensive collection of artifacts and a demonstration in the blacksmith's shop so we all now know how to make nails from steel stock.  We ended with a drive home along the old road through Dorchester with a brief stop in the village for an ice cream cone.  This day afforded us the opportunity to look back at some of the history of our country and appreciate what we have.
Thanks to Dwight and Libby for arranging our carriage factory visit.
