Atlantic Canada Corvette Clubs
Meeting Minutes
April 13th, 2019 – Lounsbury Chevrolet boardroom, Moncton, NB
In attendance:
Roger & Angela Bourgeois, Greater Moncton Corvette Club
Errol Callbeck, Kingsley Lewis & grandson Colby, PEI Corvette Club
Sylvia & Donny Blanchard, Corvettes of Southern NB
Ray & Kathleen Cromwell, Loyalist City Corvette Club
Ivan Hines, Corvette Club of NS
Wanda & Marc Gadd, David Griggs, Rivervalley Corvette Club

The meeting began at 10:00 a.m. with Roger as Chair.  He welcomed everyone and was pleased with the turnout.   Our club finished 2018 with many members either seriously ill or ending up in the hospital resulting in surgeries.  And it continues into 2019 with the very difficult news that our Corvette family member Paul Dunn passed away.   He was an incredibly passionate about the Corvette and what our club did, so it has taken 3 volunteers to replace the work he did for us, and we still don't have all of his tasks covered.

The PEICC started the ball rolling by thanking Moncton for hosting and the Lounsbury dealership for the location.   A quick recap of their winter events included a Christmas Party;  a Barrett Jackson auction pot luck gathering;  a Valentine's Day meal.   Their annual Vettefest will be held on August 17/18, 2019.  Format will be similar to previous years:  Saturday cruise, lunch, evening BBQ, show at Action Car & Truck Accessories on Sunday.   They hope all other clubs will be in attendance.
Current membership is between 20-25 families.  They are having a difficult time to grow and are looking for ideas on how to recruit the many vettes they see around the Island.

2019 Executive:
President – Errol Callbeck
Vice-President – vacant
Treasurer – Doug MacDonald
Events Coordinator – Kingsley Lewis  (club contact at: krlewis@eastlink.ca / or Error at: errol.callbec@gmail.com)

Errol expressed the clubs' sadness at the loss of our member Paul Dunn.  He meant so much to all the clubs in the Atlantic Provinces.

Next up was Ivan for the CCNS.

Currently the club has 115 members (140+ Corvettes).  Their 2018 charity was the IWK Children's Trust.  They have also been voted as the 2019 charity.   The club has increased their minimum sponsorship donation to $300.   This year is the club's 45th year.

A breakfast is held on the 3rd Sunday of each month during the winter (at the Thunderbird Diner on Hammonds Plain, Halifax).  Their holiday party was on January 12th.  The first run for 2019 will be held on May 5th, from Bedford to Peggy's Cove to Bridgewater.  Twelve members plan on attending the Bar Harbor gathering on May 30-June 2.  Maritime Meet will be July 19-21 in Yarmouth.  Corvettes @ Carlisle in August and then the last run will be September 15th.

The Maritime Meet will be set up as follows:

Friday, July 19th – Parade starts at 7 p.m. from Yarmouth Mall;  Parking passes will be issued to the first 40 vettes @ Rodd Grand with security hired; Meet & Greet at 9 p.m. at the Rodd Grand Dining Room (free appetizers and game night with 1st prize of $300, 2nd of $200 and 3rd of $100) and live music.

Saturday, July 20th – Show and shine from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. in same parking area as last year; Corvette RC race cars with a track for Corvette owners only at $5/10 laps (money for charity).   Another custom designed trophy for the show and shine's 16 categories.  Evening boat cruise at 7 p.m. ending with the fireworks display on the water.  The cost will be $25/person with the balance being paid by Hines Marine.   Register in the morning with the Seasfest organizers before registering with the CCNS.

Sunday, July 21st – Show and shine continues, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., Seafest awards given out at 2 p.m.

Next to report on their club activities was Sylvia from CSNB.  Their events coordinator, Dorothy Miller, has stepped down so email can be sent to Sylvia, who will continue until next year.

The club's annual show will be held on August 10th with the meet & greet, for registered participants on, Friday evening.  Details on the weekend to follow.
Plans are in the works for a Poker Run, either June 22 or 29th.  An invitation will be sent to other clubs.  Plans are for a designated area around Saint John, $5 to participate with winner takes all, and a BBQ to close off the event.

During their off season, dinner gatherings are held through Saint John.  A few cruises are being planned for around St Martins, along the coast, Hammond River Brewing in Quispamsis, SJ Marina in Ketepec, cruise nights to one of their sponsors and A&W for a light lunch.
The club members would like to put together a bowling tournament, similar to several years' ago, competing with other Corvette clubs.  Fredericton is believed for have the trophy and Wanda has agreed to do a search for it.

Sylvia keeps in close contact with the Acadia Region Corvette Club and they are planning a St Andrews event this summer.   Roger mentioned that Moncton had that location on their calendar and could probably get together for that location (Moncton could change the date if the chosen date doesn't work for the other clubs).

Representing the LCC, Ray said 2018 was very busy for their group.  2019 will be no different with 31 activities planned.  Their annual trip to Hartland on the first Monday in August is always a success.  All of their activities centre around BBQ/food.    Their current membership is 19 families.  Ray will remain the email contact for 2019.

Then onto RVV from Fredericton.
