Greater Moncton Corvette Club Monthly Meeting
August 5, 2019 – Lounsbury's dealership – 7 p.m.

The meeting was called to order with the following members present:  Roger & Angela Bourgeois, Dwight & Libby Rayworth, Helen & Rick Estabrooks, Victor LeBlanc, Charles Gould, JM Thibodeau, Bob Cormier, Chanel Michaud (11).
Roger welcomed the group, including new member Jean-Marc.

OLD BUSINESS:
Angela read the minutes from last month's meeting.  Two corrections were requested:  Caraquet trip saw 9 cancellations; and, Charles & Chanel helped out with teardown after the Lounsbury show.  This will be corrected on the web.
Motion to accept minutes by Charles Gould, seconded by Chanel Michaud – minutes accepted with corrections as read.

July 3-8 – the Atlantic Nationals weekend can be considered a success.  Three couples from Ontario thanked the group for the hospitality shown during their visit.   A very special thank you to Betty Mae for stepping up and getting the dash plaques completed with very little time allowed.  Great job.   Thank you to those that donated prizes for the Saturday show and shine; we ended up with over 60 prizes given out during the show and at the meal.   The two winners from the show:  the Atlantic Nationals award was given out to Jeanne & Roger (Lindow) Cormier and the Paul Dunn Memorial pick, chosen by Paul's granddaughter, went to a Carlisle Blue vette owned by Amanda Hines.
During the supper, tickets were sold on giveaways as fundraising for the Autism Resource Centre:  Corvette jackets, wax products, gift certificates from Corvette Depot,  2/$250 gift cards won by Bob Cooke and Philippe Valotaire,  and the 3 major prizes: a tool cabinet won by Howie Polter of Ontario; earrings won by Amanda Hines of NS; and a cordless drill won by Trueman Copp of Riverview.
The Atlantic Nationals finished on Sunday with approximately 1,750 cars registered.

July 14 – 4 Ferry crossings as we toured Kings County.  Wonderful BBQ at Louise & Dave Fyffe's son & family's home.
July  19-21 – Yarmouth Car show weekend.  This was a fantastic trip set up by Dave & Sharon Gates.  A great big thank you to them for making this a fun time together for our club, as well as a thank you to Ivan Hines & Jody Crooke from the NSCC for a great Corvette show weekend.
July 27 – day trip to St Andrews.  Beautiful weather and a good turn out between the 4 clubs represented (32 Corvettes).
Aug 4 – Memramcook show saw 7 Corvettes attend and 285 cars registered.  This is always a very pleasant car show with lots of sun and shade for everyone.

FINANCIAL REPORT:
In Treasurer's absence, Roger read the email summary from Wornick.  Bank balance as of August 5th: $xxxxxx.
Motion to Financial Statement by Helen Estabrooks, Seconded by Chanel Michaud – report accepted as presented.
Bills for payment were presented: $75 gift card purchased and sent with a thank you note to Dave's son and wife for their hospitality; and $317.00 for Club pins ordered.
Motion to pay bills presented by Rick Estabrooks, seconded by Chanel Michaud – motion carried.

NEW BUSINESS:
The club has received a thank you from the Cystic Fibrosis for money from the 50/50 held at Lounsbury.  Thank you to the members for supporting this cause.
Cruise to Shediac, not yet on our calendar, will be added for those wanting to attend on August 25 (rain date of Sept 1).
June 18, 2020 – we've been asked to post this on our calendar for next year.  It is a big Corvette show in Kingston Ontario:  Kingston Corvette Invastion, Eastern Ontario Corvette club hosting.
New club hats have been ordered, along with apparel samples.  Group will be advised when those have arrived.
We have ordered 100 club pins and they should be received shortly as well.
New magnetic name tags are being looked at by one of our members, Linda Gauvin.  She will let us know the details once they are set up.
Roger wanted to take a moment to emphasize that the Corvette Club does not accept bullying, drinking and driving, and drinking to excess while at the hotels.   If you drink the night before an activity, please ensure that you are sober before driving with the group the next morning.   Also, please be respectful to other members of the club, both male  and female.  Be aware that what you write on social media, in email messages, etc., is a reflection on both you and the club.  Once the message is in print, it is difficult if not impossible to retract.   Any complaints need to be addressed in person with the person organizing the event, or at least one of the club executives.  Don't post or email your frustrations, as the person who set up the event has gone through lots of work and wants it to be a pleasant experience for everyone.

UPCOMING EVENTS:
As always, please refer to our calendar of events on the web page prior to an activity to confirm departure time/place, etc.
Aug 10 – Corvettes of Sourthern NB show at Boston Pizza, Saint John.
Aug 11 – Club BBQ (email detailing events has gone out).
Aug 17-18 – PEI Corvette Club show and shine.  There is a Sat and a Sunday departure.
Aug 21 – Corvettes at Carlisle (Pensylvania) and Caravan to Bowling Green, Kentucky.
We have not heard about the Cabot Trail, so we will cancel this event for 2019 and hopefully someone will be willing to organize the trip next year.

Our current membership is 140 families.

We  set up the year's calendar on our web page in January or February, so if you see an event that involves overnight accommodations, make arrangements a.s.a.p.   Cancellation is always an option if something else comes up for you.  We have no control over the hotel prices or how much room is available.

Please read the email messages from the club thoroughly.  You may read through quickly and miss some important note. (like an r.s.v.p. requirement).    Keep the message until the event has passed, that way you can refer to it without having to bother someone else to know what's planned.

Roger learned that the club will be losing a great ally.  Kevin Horsman has accepted the position of Branch Manager at Lounsbury Miramichi.  Kevin has always pushed Corvette sales by keeping an inventory, promoting the vehicle and sales.  So much so that Lounsbury Moncton is currently on the National radar for sales.  Kevin and Kendall Underhill were on hand in California for the reveal of the 2020.    We wish Kevin all the best in his new position and opportunity.  We don't know yet who his replacement will be.

The 50/50 was won by Vic LeBlanc, in the amount of $11.00.

Meeting was adjourned by Chanel Michaud.
