Video Chat – 7pm

Present :  On chat Roger and Angela Bourgeois, Bob Cormier and Melissa Bourque, Rick and Helen Estabrooks, joining by phone Wornick Price.

President Roger Bourgeois welcomed everyone to the July meeting advising he was glad to see Atlantic Canada opening up.

He advised it was not necessary to read the minutes from the last months meeting.

The video chat was scheduled as he decided having the meeting at Lounsbury's would have been difficult as social distancing would have been an issue.

Old Business :  Three runs have taken place, the 1st organized by Melissa and Bob which took the participants from Dieppe, through Shediac, Cocagne, Irishtown, then Champlain Place parking lot.  Thanks to the 12 cars that attended – was a good turnout for a Thursday evening.
The 2nd organized by Trueman and Margaret, from Riverview, along the NB114 to Alma.  Participants had an evening meal at Trueman's nephew's new restaurant – it is a large, beautiful spot.  As expected, due to the new rules around Covid-19 food preparation and service, food took a while to be served, but it was all worth waiting for and no complaints were heard.  The owner, Graham, was a member of our club when he owned a vette.  Following our meal, Trueman lead us to a road, sort of a mountain top, behind the restaurant that brought us overlooking the Alma scenery.  We had 11 cars, including Ron and Anne from Fredericton.  Again, a great turnout for a Thursday evening.
Our 3rd and final run was this past Saturday.  President Bourgeois led participants to Mactaquac/Nackawic, following as much of the Saint John River as possible, along Sheffield, Frederiction North, etc.  We ended up with 13 plus corvettes.  Once in Fredericton, members disbursed to different take-outs for lunch.  Then regrouped at the bowling alley parking lot to continue the trip.  Our final stop of the day was at the Lincoln Big Stop and we then continued home through Sussex.  In all, it was a sunny day and we had 2 new couples join our club.  Welcome to Kevin Hamelin and Manon Drolet from Cocagne in their black-rose 2017 convertible and Frank and Johanne Savignac of Salisbury, in their 2018 triple black Grand Sport.

This trip was a good indicator of our social distancing and wearing masks.  We will continue to monitor this going forward as it is critical for our health.  Club activities will be curtailed or stopped altogether if we see otherwise.  Too many of our members have health issues and we need to respect each other.

Financial Report :  Deposits June 4 $50, June 25 $30 and July 7 $90 for a total of XXXXXX.

New Business:  Now that Atlantic Canada is open we are going to start moving – major car shows are not beginning but we can travel safely as a group.  It won't be easy, things are different.  We have to maintain the 6 feet separation – 6 feet is not an arm's length.  We need to wear masks when 6' is not possible.  We cannot be too careful.  As friends, it is difficult to not shake hands or hug but some of our members are very vulnerable to infections.  Covid-19 does not discriminate age, sex, race as the ones that have had it will tell you that it is a struggle just to survive.  Washing hands very often is also recommended and we all know that is a good habit.  Just look at the news from the US – they are still way up in numbers of new cases each day.  I will monitor our provincial numbers and if necessary, we will cancel our calendar of events for the rest of 2020.

Everyone is recommended to bring their folding chairs on outings.  We never know where we may eat our lunch and it could be in a parking lot.

Potential future trip this summer will be a trip to Pugwash/Tatamagouche/Pictou:  PEI – e-mails will go out if these get planned.

Membership is at 86: Lounsbury hasn't given us the names of those that purchased vettes since June 2019 ( they get free membership), so there could be some more members out there that we are not aware of yet.

President Bourgeois advised he will be sending an email out with regards to one of our members' behaviour while at the Lounsbury dealership in Moncton.  In these stressful times, we need to show more patience and tolerance.

President has ordered tube masks in bulk and once they have arrived an email will be sent.  They will be $10 each.  A name tag order will be done up soon as well – email to come shortly.

Last but not least, welcome new members, Donald and Diane Leger, 2017 silver Z06 coupe and Bruce and Shelley Steeves, 2017 yellow coupe.

There being no further business chat meeting adjourned.

Thanks to Bob Cornier for arranging.

Member Conduct in Public

Hello members,  I received information that one of our members was upset with Lounsbury and displayed their displeasure in the Lounsbury showroom, using his affiliation with the Greater Moncton Corvette Club in the process.
Lounsbury is our major club sponsor and have been very generous to our club over the years.
The market place, at the moment due to Covid-19, requires that we be more tolerant and show patience when it comes to items being on back order, etc., ... matters that are out of the control of our suppliers.
If you are not able to show respect to our sponsors, most definitely do not use the GMCC name to embarrass yourself and hurt the club's reputation.
I would ask that if you have any issues with any of our sponsors (they are listed on our web page),  that cannot be resolved in a professional manner, then please bring the matter to my attention and I will try to rectify or better the situation.
Thank you, Roger)
